The Madness Begins

6th Feb 2011 - The day I picked up the car.

It had been a long two weeks. The deal was done on the 23 Jan. I was away the following weekend so could not pick up the car then.

First drive of the car! Across the road and up onto the back of the truck. Shit a brick, was a little bit scary, but all went well.

Second drive, Around the yard to the front of the workshop. Awesome, can't wait to get out on the road!

Third stint - Dan at the wheel, another lap of the yard checking engine and trans. Think things are all good in this dept. Getting a little warm tho!

The car was last on the road in 2007 and is in need of a little bit of work before getting back on the road again.

The initial plan was to patch her up get her on the road and in 2-3 years do a more serious revamp.
Basically to get on the road I think it only really needs:
* New back tyres
* Check the brakes
* Carpets

Other bits to tidy it up:
* A bit of body work around lower rear quarters behind the back wheels.
* One wheel arch
* A little bit of patching the bottom of the doors.
* A bit of patching round the tail lights.

First pic of Car in its new home for the next few months!

After a few laps of the car, a bit of tyre kicking, poking and prodding, plans changed a little.
I thought why piss about with a half arsed patch up job now. So decided to go balls out, strip it bollock naked and do the job properly!

Where to start...

About a month ago I bought me a 1972 Mach 1 Mustang.

I have had a few friends asking how I am getting on with it, so thought I would create this blog as a way to share photos and document the restoration process. Allowing those who do not wish to visit the workshop for fear of being expected to do some work on it, or are too far away to drop in for a look the chance to follow along with the progress.

I have a few days to catch up on so will try and get up to date over the next few days.
